Overview
Personal Memories (“we”, “the service”) helps you track important dates, people, and related notes. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Data we collect
Account data: email address, name, password hash (or Google account identifier if you use Google sign-in), and optional profile photo. Content you add: people profiles, preferences, notes (including optional photo attachments on Pro), events, reminders settings, and activity logs linked to events. Settings: language, country, timezone, theme preference, reminder send time, and channel preferences. Billing data: if you subscribe to Pro, our payment processor (Stripe) collects payment details; we store subscription status and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers—not full card numbers. Technical data: session cookies required for authentication and basic server logs from our hosting provider. Optional error monitoring may receive technical diagnostics without intentional personal content.
How we use your data
We use your data to operate the service: authenticate you, store and display your content, send optional email or push reminders you configure, process subscriptions, and improve reliability and security. Product analytics: we store anonymous usage events (for example that onboarding completed, or that an event was created) with hashed identifiers and metadata only — never note text, person names, or email addresses in analytics rows. We do not sell your personal data.
Sharing and processors
We use trusted providers to run the service (for example hosting, database, file storage for photos, transactional email, background jobs, and Stripe for payments). They process data only on our instructions. We may disclose information if required by law.
Payments
Paid plans are processed by Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe under their privacy policy; we do not store full card numbers. Receipts and invoices may be issued by Stripe on our behalf.
Retention
We keep your account and content while your account is active. If you delete your account from Settings, we remove associated personal data from our systems, subject to limited backup retention by our providers. If you cancel Pro, photo features may become read-only or unavailable according to plan rules; cancel anytime via the billing portal.
Security
We use industry-standard measures such as HTTPS, hashed passwords, and access controls. Content encryption: your notes, preferences, people’s names, event titles and descriptions, and related contact details are stored encrypted in our database (server-side encryption with a key we manage). Only your authenticated account can decrypt them through the application. This is not end-to-end encryption: the service can decrypt content to display it to you, send reminders, and export your data when you request it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data. You can export your data from Settings and delete your account at any time. For account email changes or other account help, contact support.
